Ait Yahya Oualla is a small farming village nestled in the Mid Atlas Mountains. Like many small villages in Morocco, there are few opportunities. In 2007 Abdelhak Charrou along with other motivated locals founded the Arkhbil Association for Culture and Development with the goal of providing opportunities for women, youth, and children of Ait Yahya Oualla and beyond.

Through their Second Chance Trade and Education program for high school dropouts, Arkhbil  provides workshops and literacy classes to teach technical skills to over 500 women and youth.. The Association also facilitates  sewing and baking classes for rural women around the Azrou region. Arkhbil helped establish and provided a space for two women’s cooperatives for sewing and baking..

What once was a village that had very few opportunities for women and youth, is now bursting with activities, cultural events, and educational programs. Ait Yahya Oualla has an energy that you can’t find anywhere else in Morocco and Arkhbil is the heartbeat of the village. Come by and see for yourself!
